North Lanark Highland Swing

.....Since at least the 1400’s Scots have been submitting themselves to the frustrations of the sport of golf and the North Lanark Highland Swing celebrates this tradition in classic style every summer.  The first tee at the Mississippi Golf Club in Appleton is taken over by tartan wearing golfers and the air fills with the ancient battle cries that traditionally follow the “wicked slice”.  Participants shouldn’t worry about the inevitable stray shot as this event is a 4-ball scramble and the frustrated golfer can rely (heavily) on their partners.  For those unfamiliar with this format, each member of the team takes a shot and then the team chooses which ball they would like to use.  All four members then shoot from the same spot and repeat the process.  This format allows golfers of all skill levels to participate and focus on the goal of the tournament – to re-introduce the Scottish roots of the game and celebrate its heritage.
